‘Letters in the Rain’ by Anubhav Shrivastava and Ananya Roy is a beautiful and riveting piece that lingers around the subtle human emotions. I am spellbound by the whole narration that just lets you drown in the deluge of emotions.
The book has been written meticulously covering different dimensions of a human personality. It talks about ambition, relations, versatility, success and most importantly, accepting yourself the way you are born. Do not lend a thought to how others might perceive your actions. Rather be firm on your abilities and hit the trail.
The protagonist Aman was my favorite throughout the story. His characterization is also good. He could be an inspiration for the students to know how to balance everything in your life. It is not difficult to multi-task. You just need to know how to do it the right way. To him, his academics matter the most and this hampers the overall development of his personality. But after meeting Kiara, he realizes how simple the life is. He discovers himself and taps into his potential to turn into a highly appreciated writer. I am impressed with his poems. They have a depth that could heal you by expressing your heartfelt emotions. They are relatable and therefore, strike a chord of the reader’s heart. The friendship between Aman and Kiara has a lot to teach us. It speaks at great length about the purity and sanctity of this relationship. A friend is the one who stands for you and believes in you when even you lose faith in yourself. Kiara is the perfect example of this. Though both of them share a unique equation, the mist of misunderstanding and jealousy draw them apart. This particular incident teaches us the value of imbibing trust in one’s friendship with the other. Jealousy is a cruel entity and one should never let it mar any of his relations. By the end, things turn right. Aman realizes his folly and understands about the true essence of his friendship with Kiara. “Dreams were finally being realized. Hope was a letter they could finally send, for love was a country they had learned to defend.”
The plotline is not very exceptional but the narration left me wondering about the life of the characters of the novel. The narrative is cohesive along with a smooth development of characters. The right proportion of beautiful words along with expressions just makes this book really enjoyable. It was an immense pleasure to read it. The title is perfectly in tune with the content of the book. However, the cover could have been better to relate to the story. Overall, the book was an engaging ride. I am looking forward to reading more stuff from the authors.
