My Review

The curtains are raised and we are faced with a brain-wracking fundamental question – Why has attaining success become a matter of life and death? Not just this, but several other questions knock you in your face as you go ahead with the book. They make you cogitate upon your life replete with success and failures. They challenge your stance and provide you with a food for thought, a ray of hope!

Jai is born with a silver spoon and holds an immense passion for serving people. Born to parents who are themselves, doctors, he aspires to become the one. With his grit and determination, he manages to excel in his life and bag a gold medal in his graduation. A bright student and kind person, Jai falls prey to the unforeseeable circumstances and loses all his happiness. For years, he spends a desolate life in a dungeon suffering for an act he never performed. He cries to himself and questions his destiny whether where he went wrong. But life could be so unpredictable, he realizes this with time. And one day, he is blessed for his good conduct. When he finds none, God sends him the reverend Swamiji who helps him in overcoming his despair. The life takes a turn and peace finally finds its way to him. An interview bares open his buried grief and after several years, after sailing through ordeals, Jai finds his Asha. And thus,

If you have Asha, there will be your Jai!

The book has been written very well. I liked the narration. The plot is riveting and heartwarming. My heart ached while reading through the life of Jai. His dreams were shattered. But despite the hurdles and with the help of his Guru, Jai managed to get past his pain and realize the purpose of his life. It is a simple story that tells you the importance of love, friendship, passion, and dreams. I was overwhelmed by the attitudes of Jai’s friends. I was equally flabbergasted by the pure love of Asha and Jai. Their love stood the test of time and adverse conditions only to unite them. The book has lessons to disseminate in your soul and guide you. Through a fictional story, the life has been told.

Jai was my favorite character throughout the book. He exhibits the passion for his dream, reverence for his parents, zeal to learn and excel, love for his beloved, ability to make sacrifices for his friends, kindness, and endurance. Yet there were few places where I felt that the story was getting too fast or too slow. The pace could have been uniform and the narrative a little crisper.

Glooms and glees are nothing but a mirage that we have created ourselves in our mind.

The Ray of Asha emphasizes the meditation and the importance of conquering oneself. Do not be disheartened when life throws stones at you. Just be patient enough to withstand any adversities and everything shall be fine.

I would like people to read this book that has hope and positivity running through its pages. If you are willing to have a breezy read that has a substance, then do read this novel. Never give up on your life because

Life is an ocean of immense possibilities.

My Rating: 4.5/ 5
