Kevin Missal – Author Interview

Kevin – A New Literary Talent!

Contemporary India is witnessing an upsurge in the number of authors who are young and fresh in their content. Their literary prowess defies their age and the sheer passion with which they write is reflected clearly in their books. There is yet another name to this list of vibrant writers who are writing with a cutting-edge eye for detail. It is KEVIN MISSAL!

Kevin is a 22-year-old graduate from St. Stephen’s College who has written several books. He wrote his first book at the age of 14. He spearheaded the World’s First Insta Read. With this, he is the co-owner and co-founder of Kalamos Literary Services. In a candid conversation, he spoke about himself and his book. Excerpts:

Ques: Please introduce Kevin Missal to our readers.

Kevin: I’m a twenty-two-year-old writer of Kalki books and I live in Delhi. I have been writing since the age of 12 and published my first book at the age of 14.

Ques: We would love to know as to how did you get into writing. Please tell us.

Kevin: I was reading a chapter of Oliver Twist when I thought damn, I should be a writer. I was twelve years that time, mind you.

Ques: Let us know about your upcoming book Kalki 2 of the series.

Kevin: It’s a continuation of Kalki’s journey from boyhood to manhood, from a mere villager to an Avatar.

Ques: Why did you choose Indian Mythology as your plotline?

Kevin: Indian mythology is so interesting. I mean, it’s so beautiful and enriching that it’s hard to pull yourself away from it.

Ques: Are you interested in mythological stories of other regions? If yes, which one is your favorite?

Kevin: I like Greek.

Ques: Are you a bookworm? Which book is closest to your heart?

Kevin: Yes, I’m a bookworm. Alchemist and Godfather are my favorites.

Ques: Is writing a hobby or a professional pursuit for you?

Kevin: A Professional Pursuit.

Ques: If not writing books, How do Kevin spends his time?

Kevin: Chilling with friends, playing games and sleeping. Mostly, sleeping.

Ques: What is your opinion on the current scenario of reading and writing in India? How far have we come and how many more miles to go?

Kevin: We are growing forward and we are meant to go even further. There’s a division of mindshare due to the inclusion of Netflix, amazon prime that pulls people away from books and that’s why we need to come up with more visually enriching, unique, entertaining books. The reason why mythology currently is a popular topic to write about is because there is no limit to the imagination when it comes to mythology and no Netflix CGI can overpower a readers imagination.

Ques: Would we be hearing of a new project from you any time soon?

Kevin: Yes. It’s already out there. It’s called Narasimha!
*We wish you all the luck for your future, Kevin!*
