This book is an attempt to identify the changing dynamics of work, workers & workplaces. In the changing times, the nature of work has been changing and so changes its requirements. Each work has a unique factor in itself and needs to have a specific kind of workplace. The book talks at a stretch about driving innovation at the workplace using space.
The book is divided into three sections which kickstart with what changing of space means? The author mentions how technology could be the integrator and must not be applied blindly. He emphasizes Technology can only aid business processes if its application is relevant in given context and it is integrated with the organization’s vision.
The author then extends the discussion to why altering space is crucial. He rests his case on a collaborative and open workplace according to human psyche and gender. Each one of us has a different sort of creativity and thus should be provided with an environment which is conducive for our growth and performance. And then he furthers his point to how can we deal with the radically changing nature of work, workers & workplaces. The deliberation focusses on the importance of distraction and sleeping in stimulating the creativity. We need technological innovations, co-working spaces, and new products & services. We need to redesign our workplaces according to the nature of our work. Thus, the book is a think tank which makes the reader ponder over vital aspects of working in a professional environment.
Being a non-fiction book, it is difficult for every reader to strike a chord with it. Moreover, the book is more suitable for people belonging to the working class. However, to gain an insight into the importance of innovation at workplaces this book could be read. The language is simple and comprehensible. The points covered were nice along with an explanation to substantiate them. In all, the book is good for people who love to delve in human psychology to bring more visible performance at the workplace.
