SYNOPSIS as on Goodreads

Ganesha is a jovial, intelligent and the youngest in the family. A foodie by heart and laid back by nature, he always looked for ways to make life easier. Despite being born to the all-powerful Shiva and Parvati, with uncle Vishnu and aunts Lakshmi and Saraswati to back him at every point in life, he has to battle through many ups and downs to establish his individual identity, just like his accomplished brother, Skanda. Under layers of perfection, benevolence and the jovial extravaganza was a young boy battling to be found for who he really was. The legends of a start-up guy is a tale of someone who was born with a silver spoon and yet, decided to write his own destiny, on his own terms and to bring meaning to his existence out of the shadows of his lineage. It is the story of how an entrepreneur is born, the story of his challenges, and his actions to sail through them, carefully interwoven with stories from the Hindu mythology, to bring to the table the wisdom of the gods.

My Review

Building an enterprise demands efforts, planning, deliberation, dedication, decisions, and perseverance. Through a boulevard of trials and errors, you have to chart a territory less trodden by to achieve your aspirations.

The Legends Of A Startup Guy is a tale of a young man Ganesha who is born with a silver spoon but still resolves to come out of the shadows. With his grit and determination, he builds up his own enterprise. He is accompanied by his friends – Chintan and Srijan. Together they embark on a journey to create a product which stands unique. In their pursuit of developing a product of their own, they work day in and day out but still fail drastically in sustaining Shrishti. And then Brahma comes into picture who rip them off the flaws in their business plan and points out their inability to tackle the challenges of a startup journey. The hard lessons taught the harder way by life direct Ganesha to go on creating a product which makes him a star entrepreneur.

The book outlines the essentials of a startup journey by bringing the mythological characters into the picture. With Ganesha, Shiva, Parvati and certain other characters and places such as Kailash, the author attempt to illustrate the knowledge with ease. This candid presentation of the narrative impressed me. The book starts on a lighter not and gradually picks up the pace thereby becoming a little somber in tone. It talks about how a successful startup is built by mentioning its prerequisites and important factors to consider while translating your business idea into a viable product. It stresses on building a strong foundation of knowledge for the future product to survive. What it taught the best is to learn from the people around and believe in yourself. Through a series of mistakes and setbacks only, success would be achieved. Ganesha’s ultimate success is the testimony to this statement.

One must read Ganesha’s story to get motivated and equip oneself rightly with the necessary tools and skill set. The path towards building a successful enterprise is fraught with hurdles and one must endure through it to become successful. I really liked the lucid writing style and the use of dialogues. It made the whole narrative come lively. I also liked the informal and conversational writing style which enhanced my reading experience. The book presented vital information in an enjoyable way. Also, the bits of lesson after each chapter are enlightening. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend to both the children and adults for the narrative is simplistic and informative.

MY RATING: 4/ 5
