This book takes you through the roller-coaster journey of life, posing questions that you have always wanted to ask the world. The poems in this book are born out of emotions that each one of us goes through in our lives sometime or the other and feel that we have someone by our side who understood it.

If you have ever loved truly and had to let go, if you have played well and lost, if there were moments when you felt cheated by everyone around, if life has knocked you out at times, then grab this book and relive all those moments – that hearty laughter with your soul mate or crying alone in the lonely nights!

My Review

“Poetry is ordinary language raised to the Nth power. Poetry is boned with ideas, nerved and blooded with emotions, all held together by the delicate, tough skin of words.”

In the austere words of the author,” poetry is a fusion of words.” Isn’t it? A bunch of ordinary words when weaved together in a proper manner give birth to a poem which goes beyond the colloquial boundaries and touches its readers like nothing else.

Such Is Life is a mindful collection of delightful poems spread across different subjects ranging from life, death, living, love, relationships, dreams to the poetry. The poems clearly lack any conventional rule of maintaining a rhyme and does not fall in the typical frame of a poem. Rather, they breach the standards, break off from the boundaries of an ordinary and traditional picture and flow through the heart of its readers. Adorned with simple language and attractive expressions, the book was worth a joyful ride!

What I liked the most was the tinge of philosophy I found in the book at the very onset. As one of the poems says, “We owe death a life.” I was truly amazed by the depth of this. As we go ahead in our journey, we come across words playing with dreams of being careful that they don’t break as the dreams are fragile. But even if they just fall off the edge, there is no harm as one broken dream gives birth to many more. Life is a palate of mixed flavors – salty tears and sugary smiles and that makes it worthwhile. The real and true emotions of love also rung aloud in my ears. The vibrations of feelings and their musical expressions were amazing. The poems reflect on the true purpose of our lives and ask us to fight for our identities.

The aesthetic illustrations covering the poems were also convincingly beautiful. I felt them complimenting the context perfectly. However, personally, I found poems on life more exquisite than the ones on love and relationships. Otherwise, the book definitely treats you well!

If you love dwelling upon crucial subjects of life and death and if you like to go through poems diverting from the standard frame, you may fall for this book.

MY RATING: 4.25/ 5
