My Review

Friendship is start but togetherness is end.

Remember one last thing there is only one happiness in life – to love and to be loved.

A loving relationship which could brave all odds and stand ground to its belief is rare to witness in the contemporary world. While people are going ahead in life forgetting the past, to stay rooted in your idea of love amidst fickle and fake ideologies is beautiful.

I Am Always Here With You is a heartwarming story of Kartik and Ashima, the two love birds who fell in love in their teenage, that stands upright amidst all rough storms. Kartik is head over heels in love with Ashima and opts for Arts subject in his +2 against the will of his father. This draws the father and son apart resulting in a sour relationship.  The time comes when Ashima is pregnant and because of complications in her pregnancy, they call Kartik’s parents to stay over. After repeated attempts to reconcile with his father’s anger, Kartik is left defeated and bruised. When his father did realize, something unpredictable & unimaginable happened. This turned the entire course of their lives.

The author attempts to paint a dreamy relationship between Kartik and Ashima which is fraught with pain and unexpected brutalities of destiny. Their love stood against the ordeals so well that I found it hard to believe if something as good as this can ever exist. A love so pure and devoted is hard to find which is illustrated in this book very nicely. Change is an inevitable element and to deal with it asks for grit and courage. The bond between a father and a son is also depicted well.

The sudden change in the plotline puzzled me and the resulting portrayal of the sadness gripping the lives of the character made my heart sink. The letters which Kartik wrote were heart-wrenchingly beautiful. They spoke volumes of the love between a parent and his offspring. I am moved by the narrative.

With a good characterization and smooth transition between the past and present, the book does manage to engage its readers. The language is simple and comprehensible. So, its quite easy to connect with the story. The storyline might not be very unique but a sound narration makes for a good reading experience.

For a good and romantic contemporary read, this book can definitely be picked up!
