Book Review (1)

Think Like An Accountant: A non-accountant’s guide to accounting by Shubhasish Das is a book that captures and explains the nitty-gritty of accounting from scratch. The intent of the book is to clear the readers’ doubts and help them in developing the right mindset for accounting.

Contained in barely 100 something pages, the book claims to guide you in grasping the critical accounting principles. Filled with minimal theory and ample examples, the book is for those who wish to learn the concept of accounting. Be it a commerce student or someone who is starting out at setting up a venture and wishes to keep a track of the finances might find this little guide helpful. Right from the importance of bookkeeping to how to make the journal entries, each step has been described simply and clearly. Most of the relevant terms have also been explained.

There are examples that are put frequently but I honestly found them inadequate for a layman like me. I would suggest the author include a few more examples to illustrate the concepts. Also, a round of editing is needed to rid the book of typographical errors.

In a nutshell, it can prove to be a good start of your journey toward learning principles of accounting.

MY RATING: 4/ 5
