Am I On The Spectrum? by Danielle Hampson is a wonderful account of autism and Asperger syndrome. In this book, the author attempts to investigate what are the different personality types of autism and how do they respond to this medical condition.
It was a great thing to get the author into a conversation with Bookish Fame. Excerpts:
Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, my name is Danielle. I am 50 years old and this is my first self-help book.
When did it dawn upon you that you wanted to be a writer?
I realized I could expand my work as a psychotherapist and help people I couldn’t reach face to face in my sessions by writing a book.
What inspires you to write books? What are the things which catch your attention?
People who are struggling with internal pain within themselves people who believe they are victims and people who can’t see the destructiveness of their own ways.
Tell something in brief about your book ‘Am I on the Spectrum’? How did the idea of coming up with this book strike you?
I’ve had this idea along time in my head about 8 years to be precise before I started writing it.
What was your aim with this book? What message did you want to get across?
That we are all on the Spectrum science hasn’t caught up yet and I have a diagram of what the Spectrum could actually look like and where we fit on it.
Do you see books as a carrier of an important message or a medium of entertainment?
Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?
No, I practice spiritually in other areas, not my writing.
When you were young, did you ever see writing as a career or a full-time profession?
Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors? What is your favorite genre?
Self-help / factual books
Any advice you would like to give to aspiring writers?
Just keep at it, it flows when you start to get there and it will all fall into place – promise
Are we going to hear more from you in the future?
Yes, I have a few more ideas up my sleeve.
*We wish Author Danielle Hampson all the best for her future endeavors.*
