Entrepreneurship is a coveted field in these times. And why not? After all, all of us grow up with some dreams in our eyes. We want to be our own boss. We aspire to clinch the top position by doing what we truly and passionately love. And with the advent of several opportunities and means, which continue to multiply each day, it is now a little easier to challenge the limits and norms. It is now a tad bit easier to be who we are meant to be. However, in the end, the key to success remains to be a blend of courage, dedication, and perseverance.
Ball Gowns to Yoga Pants by Dr. Shellie Hipsky is a wonderfully structured book tracing the path to becoming an entrepreneur. Being an award-winning “Best Business Woman” and “Entrepreneur of the Year,” Dr. Shellie lays down the tips to be on your way to a successful entrepreneurial career.
The book is divided into several chapters, each starting off with a famous quotation that rings true for anyone, in general. The author then digs deep into a particular topic using anecdotes and facts. The book draws inspiration from Dr. Shellie’s life as it comprises her experiences as she navigated her professional and personal life. It also contains her encounters with some of the successful entrepreneurs whose success stories and tips find a way here.
The book is laid out well as it explains the vitality of identifying your big idea and setting a vision board for the same. It also emphasizes the importance of a quality network and knowing one’s brand thoroughly. And as the author focuses on telling us to create a stellar product/ service, she acquaints us with the pitfalls we would come across. A winner would be the one who aces it through the thick and thin.
The book stood out because it asks a lot of questions. It might not offer you in-depth material, but it does make you ask the right questions. After all, even if you know your ‘why,’ you must also know your ‘how.’ With that being said, easy writing and a smooth narration makes this book worth a read for the ones willing to be entrepreneurs. It is good if you want to know a successful person’s story and want to grab a few nuggets of her wisdom.
