Book Review

Love like Love by Kingshuk Sen is a collection of short-form poetry revolving around the beautiful emotion of love. Using basic writing style and simple expressions, Sen attempts to initiate discussion around something as basic as love.

At 70 pages, it is a fast-paced read that sheds light on modern love, a love that has a variety of definitions. None is standard though. I guess this idea behind the book comes out wonderfully as we progress ahead with the pages. Sen intends to talk about how a loving relationship has transitioned in modern times and subtly puts across his idea of an ideal one.

Each piece is 2-4 lines or slightly more in length. The intent is clear in each of them but the lack of rhythm left me dissatisfied. As much as this book has different shades and hues of love, it also falls short of putting them forth in a way so enticing so as to leave a lasting impact on readers.

Sen does bring in a lot of variety in this quick read. His thoughts on love, adoration, relationships are found in abundance throughout the book. I believe that the beginners would end up liking this book.
