The Last Ritual: Dawn of Darkness by Sadath Ali is a dark novel on the rise of sinister powers and doomsday. It is a story of pure love, unadulterated friendship, netherworld, evil powers, and triumph of good over bad.

The book begins with the abduction of a pregnant lady and this follows the kidnapping of more such women. Each of them was heavily pregnant with a common link – daughters of Abrahamanic leaders. Why evil follows them is unfolded along the course of the novel.

In the parallel worlds, we have a Doctor who is a regular visitor to an infamous prison from where a criminal has eloped. And then we have a nasty character who is on run to perform some ultimate ritual which is as gruesome as it can get.

Together, the fates of these characters intertwine to culminate in an ending that might leave the readers’ mouths agape.

The Last Ritual is an incredible work along the typical lines of good over evil. The idea is well-conceived and wonderfully executed throughout the length of the novel. The build-up has one in jitters, flipping pages; all to know what’s to come next. Although I felt there are too many characters to keep a track of(a glossary would have been helpful!), each one has a significant role to play.

The fictional tale of the fight against the ancient satanic brotherhood is full of thrill, mystery, and cruelty. While the climax might not seem intriguing enough, the story following it is definitely worth one’s time. For once, I was consistently marvelling at the imagination and fine writing as I was diving deep into the plotting by the evil force.

The character development is done fairly well. The language is well-suited for moderate and above reading levels. The breezy writing coupled with spot-on narration renders this novel a fantastic appeal.

If you are looking for a book to whack your heads with pure thrill and entertainment, you should check out this book. It promises to provide an immersive experience to thriller lovers.
