I am a firm believer in the concept of self-empowerment. I feel that our supreme power is within us. And if we learn to channel it properly, we can do wonders. We can probably untangle quite a few knots in our lives.

Unplug. In-power. Recreate is a collection of transformative poems that aim to help readers in connecting with their truest selves. This collection intends to tell them to shed their inhibitions, take charge of their lives, and change them for good.

As the title suggests, this poetry book is divided into three parts – unplug, in-power, and recreate. Poems under each section intend to empower the readers to let go of what happens to them and focus on the road ahead. They essentially encapsulate a key message to leverage one’s inner strength to lead a more fulfilling life.

Self-transformation happens to be at the core of this book. And for once, as you read the poems, you tend to feel energized and pumped up to take on the world. I liked the approach of this book – to impart valuable life lessons in bite-sized poetic form. The writing is lucid and easily understandable.

The acute observations, inferences, and experiences come alive in the words of this book. They fill you with so much positivity and strength that it is difficult to not be impacted by them.

Some of my favourite lines:

“Whenever you feel lost,

Embrace solitude.

Let it become

Your safe space.”

While I liked the entire book, I found the first two parts more impactful. In a way, the third part paled in comparison to the two. Besides, poetry as a form didn’t do full justice to the enlightening content of the book.

Nevertheless, this book is meant to be savoured a day at a time. No matter what genre you prefer, I feel that this is one of those books you can keep close to you and read a page or two frequently to feel at ease amid the humdrum of life.
