The term ‘scenic verse’ stands for a lively poem, where words can communicate so well that one can clearly visualise what they read. This goes well with this book.
The Scenic Verse by Manali Thakker is a collection of charming poems written on varied themes, including nature, friendship, beauty, and companionship. The poems are beautiful in the way they speak of the surroundings.
These poems essentially capture the observations of the author as she goes through picturesque places. Her vivid writing gives meaning to the mundane things as she goes about the different beautiful places. Her poems have descriptions of a deer, of a valley, of a woman going to fetch water, of two people in love.
Divided into four parts, the book takes us to the earthly beauty of the world and emotions. One would see vivid images of deserts, mountains, birds, animals, bliss, and love. The Peacock and the Rainbow was my favourite of all. The one on Assam was also awesome!
What I liked the most about this collection is the fact it resonates with every segment of readers, young and old alike. The authenticity of feelings is another aspect that compliments this collection.
Moreover, the lovely illustrations accompanying each poem added to the beauty of the book.
In a nutshell, if you are looking forward to reading a contemporary poetry collection, do check out this book. I recommend this to all.
